As we showed in last week's article, the vibrant and modern lighting that warms our holiday season today has come a long way. In this article we will bring this story to the present day, where LED lights reign supreme and delight Christmas lovers with all their exuberance.

In 1966, General Electric decided to start manufacturing abroad, which resulted in a reduction in the price of Christmas lights. The new Merry Midget mini lights, which are still available for purchase today, were smaller, cheaper and could be used outdoors. In this way, people began to decorate the interior and exterior of their homes. In addition to the houses having been lit previously, this practice was not very common until the launch of these lights.

With the invention of mini lights, which offered low-cost, low-power lighting, during the 70's and 80's families intensified their home decorations with huge amounts of lights, in order to "beat" their neighbors in the competition of brighter and more original house.

This tradition lasts until the present day, where practically all houses display some type of Christmas lighting during this season.

However, the great advance in Christmas lighting, in the image of traditional lighting, was due to the invention of LED technology. These lights last longer and are more efficient than previous Christmas lights. In fact, on average. LED Christmas lights use about 95% less energy and last up to 100,000 hours.

Another advantage is that, unlike traditional Christmas lights, if an LED breaks or breaks, the LED wreath does not break completely and can even be replaced.

In addition, they are more resistant to impact and vibrations and there are several models with a high protection index (IP), suitable for outdoor use. They are also more environmentally friendly as they can often be recycled.

The first LED Christmas lights were sold in stores in 2007 and are now present in practically every home, illuminating our Christmas.
