Once you have the correct replacement bulb with you, proceed with the replacement and:
- Use a stepladder or ladder to reduce the risk of falling if you change a light bulb that is out of reach.
- Turn off the light fixture and light switch. It can be difficult to know if an electrical device is really off if the only light bulb needed for it to work is out of order. If this is the case, turn off the electrical panel.
- Let the lamp to be replaced cool down before touching it.
- Rotate the bulb counter-clockwise until it pops out.
- Align the replacement bulb in the holder and turn it clockwise until it cannot turn any further. As an extra precaution, keep your fingers out of the holder and don't try to tighten the bulb too much to prevent it from breaking in your hands.
- Dispose of the old lamp safely, for example by wrapping it in the new lamp package.
Follow our tips and you will never have any mishap during a light bulb change again.
